Career Transition Steps

Having a well thought out career transition strategy will help you through career change.

Five Steps to Successful Career Change

  1. Complete a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) to help you decide whether it is time for you to look for another role. The SWOT analysis will give you a snapshot of the types of questions you should be asking yourself. It will help you make career choice decisions about whether you want to:

    1. GROW within your current role
    2. MOVE to another role within your current organization
    3. GO to a different organization or do something entirely different.
  2. Do your job market research. Find out about the organization or roles that you are targeting so that you can decide whether you actually want to work there or not.
  3. Update your employment resume. Your job resume should be tailored for each role that you apply for.
  4. Put in a job application that targets all of the selection criteria.
  5. Prepare for the job interview. The best way to deal with job interview jitters is to be thoroughly prepared.

Having a well thought out career transition strategy will help you through career change. Use the above steps to secure your next exciting role.
