Downloading
Q.
I attempted to download your software and I was unsuccessful.
A.
First, check that when you received the prompt to either open or save the file to your computer, you chose the Save option and not the Open option.
Next, check closely which warning message/error message you are receiving. Your company firewall may be blocking downloads of executable and compressed files (that is, files with an .exe and .zip extension). Secondly, some browser settings are set to high security, once again blocking downloads of executable files. Thirdly, some anti-virus programs block downloads of executable files. Once you have identified the warning message, check the remaining questions and answers in this section. If it is your company's firewall blocking the download, contact your network administrator. If the error message is not related to any of the above, send us the wording of the warning message/error message to and we will be able to help you further.
Q.
I clicked on the download url given in the email, but nothing happens.
A.
First, make sure that your computer has a reliable connection to the internet. Next, check how the url is displayed in your email. Your email program may be breaking up the download url with its line wrapping. If this is the case, paste each segment of the broken url into the url bar of your web browser, making sure that you do not leave in any leading or trailing spaces and no spaces in between the segments.
If you copy and paste the url into your web browser, make sure that you leave out the leading < and the trailing > characters.
If this doesn't solve your problem, try the following:
- downloading using a different web browser
- downloading using a different on site computer
- downloading using an off site computer (with no company firewall)

Q.
When I try to download your software, I got a message saying that the publisher could not be verified. What should I do?
A.
This security message appears for software publishers not verified by Microsoft and where the user has their web browser (such as Internet Explorer) set for high security. All of our software has been tested to the most stringent levels. To proceed, simply click on the "Run" button. This will complete the download to your PC.
Q.
When I try to download your software, I get a warning message from my anti-virus program. What is the problem?
A.
Your anti-virus program has intercepted the download of an executable file (with a .exe extension). This intercept is normal for anti-virus programs configured to check downloads. You can either:
- Disable download scan in your anti-virus program. You may need to consult your anti-virus program documentation.
- Read the prompt that your anti-virus program presents to you and choose the appropriate option. For example, there may be an option to click "Yes" to continue downloading.
All of our installation files are thoroughly checked by the latest virus checkers and are certified as virus free.

Q.
I entered my Name and Key, but get a message that the name and key I entered are not valid. What have I done wrong.
A.
Please check the following:
- Verify that you have purchased the correct product. Check the email that you would have received from RegNow.com.
- Verify that you have downloaded the correct product. Check our web site Home page.
- Verify that you have entered the Name and Key exactly as it appears in the email you received from RegNow.com. It helps to copy from the email you received and paste to the Name and Key fields as this prevents data entry errors.
- If you have copied and pasted the Name and Key and you continue to receive an error message, check that you have not inadvertently picked up extra spaces at the start or end.
- If this does not work, the installation file may have become corrupted during the download process. Please download the installation file a second time and try again.
- If all of this does not work, please email us the installation file you downloaded and we will test the file.

Q.
What is a Zip file?
A.
A zip file is a computer file that can package a number of files into a single file. The files stored in a zip file can be of many kinds: documents, graphics, sound files, and so on. In addition, the files stored in a zip file are compressed to save disk space and download time when someone downloads the file from the internet. You can tell a zip file from the .zip on the end of the file name.
Q.
How do I use the Zip file?
A.
Once you download the zip file, you will need to extract the product files from the zip file. This is done in one operation by a special program such as WinZip or 7-Zip. Some computers already have extraction software installed. Double-click or right-click on a zip file to see if your computer recognizes the file. If it does not, you will need to install the software. Visit www.winzip.com or www.7-zip.org to download the zip file extractor. Then follow the instructions bundled with the software to install it on your computer.
To extract the product files from a zip file, first create a new directory on your computer so that the files extracted do not get mixed up with the files in an existing directory. Next, right-click on the zip file and select Extract All or Extract To from the list of options. Alternatively, double-click on the zip file to open it. Once you have extracted the files, navigate to the directory in which you extracted them. Each extracted file can now be opened with the program that created it. For example, double-clicking on a doc file will open Microsoft Word whilst double-clicking on an xls file will open Microsoft Excel.

Q.
On our project, we work on Saturdays. This is messing up the calculation of planned finish dates. How can I fix this?
A.
On the Schedule sheet, in the Effort (Days) field, enter the total number of days to be worked minus the number of Saturdays to be worked.
For example, if you estimate the task to take 9 days from 1 May 2006, at 100% utilization, the task would be completed on 11 May 2006. You would enter "8" (9 minus 1) in the Effort (Days) field. This compensates for the Saturday worked on 6 May 2006. The Planned Finish Date field would then show the correct finish date for your task, 10 May 2006.

Q.
The reports are not updating with the new data that I entered.
A.
The reports use Excel's powerful PivotTables feature. There is a known bug in Excel that causes corruption of PivotTables in protected workbooks. Reinstitute your workbook from your last known good backup or use a third-party Excel workbook repair utility. To prevent future corruption, ensure that you have the latest Service Pack installed for your version of Microsoft Office.
Q.
When I open the workbook, I get an error message saying "Unable to read file." and that errors were detected and repaired.
A.
A common reason for this message is the corruption of one or more PivotTables in the workbook. When this happens, you will see a message on opening the workbook reporting that a PivotTable report was discarded due to integrity problems. You will also see that in the reports, the PivotTable drop-down fields no longer appear.
PivotTables are used in Project Master to generate the various project reports.
Q.
After saving my Excel 2007 workbook as an Excel Macro-Enabled Workbook, I receive a Security Alert when I try to open the workbook again.
A.
There is a known issue with opening protected workbooks saved in Excel 2007 macro-enabled (xlsm) format. When you try to open the workbook, you will receive the message, "This file contains encrypted macros that have been disabled because there is no antivirus software installed that can scan them. To run these macros, remove the encryption or permission restrictions on this file." Your workbook will not open unless your computer has installed an antivirus program that supports the Microsoft Antivirus API. If you do not have such antivirus software installed, we recommend saving your workbook as an Excel 97-2003 Workbook (compatibility mode). Microsoft's alternative solution is to edit your operating system's registry file, as described in their Knowledge Base article 927150.
Q.
The Schedule and Cost Charts do not show all of the data points for all of the days entered on the Schedule and Cost sheets.
A.
There is a bug in the way Excel 2007 displays pre-existing charts. To fix this issue, unprotect the PerformanceCharts sheet, select the Schedule Chart, click on the Chart Tools tab in the Excel window title bar, select the Change Chart Type icon in the ribbon, select the Line option from the list of chart types and click on the OK button. Repeat the above steps for the Cost Chart. Save your file. You will only need to perform this process the one time. Excel will remember the new settings.

Q.
How can I add an employee's ID to Training Tracker?
A.
There are two methods for adding employee identification data.
Method 1:
- Name column T on the Records sheet with your preferred name in Row 1.
- Enter the employee ID for each employee.
This method requires you to add the employee ID manually each time.
Method 2:
- Name column L on the List sheet with your preferred name in Row 1 and enter each employee's ID.
- Name column T on the Records sheet with the same name.
- Use Excel's vlookup function to enter a vlookup formula in cell T2 on the Records sheet.
- The formula will look like:
=VLOOKUP(A2,List!$A$2:$L$500,12,FALSE)
- Change the number 500 in the formula to the row number of the last employee name row on the List sheet. (You can increase the size of this number to give you some spare capacity as you add new employees to the List sheet.)
- Copy the formula down to all used rows on the Records sheet (Select cells, Ctrl+D).
With Method 2, each employee's ID will appear automatically in column T as you enter new records.

Training Management/Projects Template Packs
Q. |
What's the difference between the Training Management Template Pack and the Training Projects Template Pack? |
A. |
The Training Management Template Pack is designed to help with training administrator tasks, such as registering participants, gathering and analyzing participant feedback, recording attendance and compiling certificates of completion. On the other hand, the Training Projects Template Pack assists a project manager throughout the various phases of a training project. This includes compiling a project plan, conducting a training needs analysis, creating a high-level design and a training schedule. Whilst there is some overlap between the two template packs, the Training Management Template Pack focuses on day to day training administration tasks whilst the Training Projects Template Pack helps with creating and rolling out a brand new training program. |
